Does Con-form Group design and make its products here in Australia?

Every Con-form Group solution is developed in our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at Bathurst, NSW. This facility includes a complete complement of teams (Research and Development, Product Development, Product Testing, Industrial Design, Structural Engineering, Engineering Certification, Acoustic Engineering, Product Prototyping) capable of taking a raw architectural idea through to engineering, prototyping, testing, certification and manufacture. We deliver a complete turn-key service.

Is Con-form Group an engineering company?

Con-form Group was the first engineering company in Australia to specialise in developing solutions for rooftop HVACR environments. We have qualified structural and mechanical engineers and, together with our industrial design and product development teams, they have produced a range of industry-first solutions. These include ultra-lightweight mechanical plant platforms and tunable noise cancelling wall panels. Due to the nature of our work, which is usually bespoke, our engineers are involved in every project – whether it involves load bearing, acoustic noise mitigation, or screen enclosures. They design, test and certify each solution.

Which companies use Con-form Group products?

Over the past two decades Con-form Group has produced equipment, platform-acoustic, wall-visual, barrier-internal, and frame-access solutions for Australia’s leading construction companies: Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, state governments, Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and many others.

Which types of buildings include products made by Con-form Group?

Wherever you find rooftop HVACR mechanical equipment, you will find Con-form Group products. Mechanical equipment plant platforms, screen enclosures, noise reduction panels, louvre screens and roof access systems. In addition, our internal steel frames have been installed in a variety of large-scale buildings. Over the past two decades our projects have included data centres, shopping centres, hospitals, medical clinics, universities, schools, colleges, government offices, childcare centres, libraries, airport terminals, drone landing pads, factories, manufacturing facilities, bulky goods and logistics facilities, hotels, service stations, fast food outlets, sports stadiums and automotive dealerships…to mention a few.

Where is Con-form Group based?

Con-form Group’s Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (producing plant platform-acoustic screens-plant screens-internal frame-roof access solutions) is in Bathurst NSW. From here we deliver our systems across the whole of Australia.

Why do data centres require specific rooftop systems?

Data centres feature rows of HVAC chillers (can be more than 100 chillers) which provide cooling to the temperature-sensitive computer equipment inside. These chillers have to operate 24 hour a day. In order to provide maintenance and service teams easy access to the chillers they require a uniquely designed raised platform and roof walkway system. Con-form Group has designed and engineered both a Data Centre Raised Walkway and Data Centre Raised Platform. The platform is engineered to support the heavy live load of these refrigerated mechanical HVAC&R units without the building having to be retrofitted with additional load bearing structures below. Our Data Centre-specific system is prefabricated form light gauge steel and delivered to site as a flat pack for speedy installation. No cutting or welding is necessary on the rooftop as the trusses and joists are simply bolted together.

Why do data centres need specific noise management?

The rows of chillers on the roofs of data centres produce a lot of mechanical and aerodynamic noises. Some data centres have hundreds of them. These are typically much louder than HVAC&R systems on the other types of buildings that Con-form Group is familiar with such as hospitals, commercial offices, industrial factories, universities and shopping centres. In fact, data centres are the noisiest of all of these sites. As such, they require much more powerful noise cancelling wall panels. This factor led to us working with Acoustic Engineers to develop Australia’s first tunable data centre acoustic sound products with class-leading NRC of 1.05. Acoustic+ UltraWall is a solid wall made up of interlocking panels…Acoustic+ LouvreWall provides ventilation to mechanical equipment whilst also capturing unwanted noise.

What is a HVAC&R Plant Platform?

A HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration) plant platform is a structural system designed to support mechanical plant equipment on rooftops or similar locations. These platforms are crucial for the safe and efficient installation, operation and maintenance of HVAC&R systems. They are typically engineered to handle specific load requirements and to evenly distribute the weight of the HVAC&R system. This reduces the structural stress on the building. Con-form Group plant decks feature light gauge steel which significantly reduces the platform weight compared to traditional structural steel. Despite its lightness (as much as 83% less) a Con-form Group plant platform is capable of supporting the same weight as structural steel.

What does purlin-mounted mean?

This is what we at Con-form Group call “surface mounting” or “penetration free”.  The roof is not penetrated at all. The bearers and trusses of our plant platform sit directly on the roof sheet above the purlins - which are underneath the roof.

How do you secure a surface-mount HVACR plant platform to a roof?

We take safety and compliance very seriously. In accordance with AS1170.4 we secure our EasyMech MR mechanical plant platforms to all types of roof profiles - from Spandeck to Kliplok. This is achieved using engineer-certified seismic fixings.

What does concrete mounted mean?

A Con-form Group concrete mounted plant platform is a type of platform or walkway which is placed on top of a concrete surface such as a concrete roof or ground slab. Our EasyMech CR is designed specifically for this mounting requirement.

How do you secure HVAC plant platforms to a concrete roof?

We have a number of solutions for fixing our EasyMech CR (concrete-mount plant platform) to a concrete roof. Fixing solutions depend on the condition of the concrete membrane. Contact our team to find out how we can help you with your requirements – 1300 882 490.

What is the standard lead time for a EasyMech MR or CR plant platform?

A Con-form Group plant platform is available in two ways. A common-spec’ surface-mount kit platform (eg. 1200x1200mm, 1600x1600mm, 2000x2000mm, 2400x2400mm) is manufactured in 3-5 days. A custom purlin/concrete mounted MR or CR plant platform is designed, engineer-certified and manufactured in 4-6 weeks.
